MY TOWNSHIP - BERAPIT

Kampung Berapit is one of the New Villages formed under the Briggs Plan. The strategy of the British authorities was to move the rural folks, especially the Chinese, into villages which were strictly guarded by security forces. The aim was to cut off supplies to the communist insurgents. From 1949 to 1954, 50,000 Chinese were relocated to these new villages.
